Difference in satellite radio tuners?

I already have a portable sirius tuner in my car, but it was the bottom of the line model which was a replacement for older one I had. It seems like the sound isn’t as good now. Would upgrading to a higher quality portable satellite tuner give better sound quality?

A tuner is part of a system. I’d suggest you take a look at your system (especially including speakers) and see if there’s a change you can make there before investing in a new tuner (receiver). The receivers will be updated within a year to receive both services. That would be the time to make the switch in receivers.
